GM News: Chevrolet Spark Is Coming To North America

Lately, there seems to have been a lot of back and forth and back and forth regarding the Chevrolet Spark. GM had not decided whether or not the Chevrolet Spark was going to be released in the states or not but finally, this beautiful little car is going to be coming to North America – Mexico and Canada are obviously included too.

In the past, General Motors talked about just releasing the Chevrolet Spark to India and calling it a day but after a lot of debate and a lot of surveying, they have finally come up with the answer of releasing the Chevrolet Spark to the states.

To me – this is a personal win, as I have been waiting for this car to be released forever!

Audi Metroproject Quattro Concept: It’s A Concept!

We all know that Audi is an automaker that we can not only trust but one that we have grown to love … now, Audi is actually partnering with Quattro and I have to say that this is a fantastic combination. The brand new Audi Metroproject Quattro Concept is actually a concept car that is in the works right now and it is definitely a car that I am looking forward to.

The Audi Metroproject Quattro Concept will reportedly only be available with about one gearbox, but it is a seven speed S-Tronic automatic transmission. This car is going to be by far one of the best in the world … and I speak from experience!

So if you are in the market for an Audi minicar … this concept car is certainly going to turn your wheels!

2011 Mazda2: Finally It Is Going To Come To North American!

Yesterday – oh folks, yesterday was a very good day for Mazda because they finally, finally revealed that they are going to be bringing the 2011 Mazda2 to North America. It was announced yesterday and I have to say that this is a huge, huge deal! I have been waiting for the 2011 Mazda2 to come on over to the states and now it is almost here!

At the West Coast show, the 2011 Mazda2 was certainly the highlight of the day for a lot of people but most importantly, this particular car is now going to be for sale! Mazda has always been a car brand that I have loved … you know what you are getting when you buy a Mazda, but I have been waiting for them to come out with a hatchback car.

Now they have answered my prayers and the 2011 Mazda2 is on it’s way soon enough!

Chrysler Is Done Building Engines: W/Hyundai & Mitsubishi

Something happened last week with Chrysler – something that all of us have been expecting and that is that Chrysler Group LLC actually bought out its former partners in the way of building engines. Mitsubishi and Hyundai were the two partners that would build the engines for any Chrysler cars and trucks, however – Chrysler actually bought them out along with the plant in Dundee, Michigan.

This is something that has been coming for a while and while no buyout price has been announced as of right this moment, the statuses of the engine designs were also not mentioned.

These two manufactures are two of the hugest and Chrysler bought them out – pretty impressive. Stay tuned for more auto news!

Why Manual Shifters Are Better!

When you really think about it – which is better … the automatic or the manual? If you are a car chick like me than you know exactly which one is better – the manual shifter of course! People in this day and age though do not know how to drive a stick! Now, I think that is honestly sad. Back in the day, before there were automatic anything, people learned how to drive a stick. However – you are probably wondering why it is better right? Right.

One of the first reasons that a manual is better is because it is cheaper! Oh yes, by about $700.00, which is a nice chunk of change when you really think about it right? You can get an automatic, however it is going to cost you! Another reason is because it puts you in control of your car and the speed that you want to go – which is nice for a change right?

Finally, the best reason? Because stick shifts rock! Duh! Ask any racer in the world and they will tell you that the stick shift is going to give you the speed you want with the control you expect. All around – it’s better!

Cobo Hall — Finally Getting Repaired! The NAIAS To Stay In Motor City!

It has been a very long road down the line for Cobo to be fixed up. To be honest – I live in Detroit and I do not drive down there because I do not want to look at Cobo hall – however, it is finally getting fixed! The entire Cobo hall is going to get fixed on up and do you know what that means?

Well, it means that the Auto Show of Detroit is going to stay right where it belonged … in Detroit! There was a lot of talk about the North American Auto Show moving – however, it is not going to any longer.

I think this is fantastic news not only for the auto show itself but also for the city. What would people say if they truly thought that the auto show was going to leave Detroit and be placed in some place like Chicago or even New York! Well – it would just not be good at all.

Cash for Clunkers Program: It’s Launched!

Finally, finally, finally – we have all been talking about the Cash for Clunkers forever now it seems and on Monday, the 27th, it was launched to all of the dealerships. Now – if you are like me, you were probably wondering exactly how it did on the very first day and it actually hit about 4,000 sales on the very first day! People have been waiting for a program just like this one to come along for years and finally, the Cash for Clunkers is here.

The program has already 20,564 certified clunkers dealerships which gives eligible customers plenty of places for them to cash in on this federal program. Of course – that is assuming that the EPA is not going to switch out the eligibility in the 11th hour. The vehicles that were sold on Monday alone truly do represent about $17 million in rebates, which will leave about $933 million in program funding available.

Cash for Clunkers is a great program and personally – I think that everyone should truly be taking advantage of it while it is here.

Detroit Could Lose Auto Show: It Could Happen!

Nowadays, talking about the automotive industry is extremely scary but one thing that is even scarier for the people of Detroit is losing their precious auto show. There is a city that is seeped in uncertainty and Detroit is absolutely surrounded by bankruptcy all due to GM. However, that is not the reason why Detroit might end up losing this incredible show – attendees are down.

Detroit has definitely always been the host for the international auto show and to be honest, it has been a highlight of the city during that time of year. There has been a debate however over who owns Cobo and Douglass R. Fox, the co-chairmen of the auto shows stated that if everything is not resolved by July 2011, then they might consider pulling the auto show from Detroit.
